George's Story

My name is Serena and this is the story of George.

I started going to Agility trials with Jennifer when she was competing with both Apache and Fredericka. I quickly grew to enjoy the sport and to admire those little dogs called Shelties. I decided I wanted a dog...but not just any dog! A male sable sheltie with a very cute nose...that was my criteria.
I had just about given up on finding a dog of my own when Jennifer attended a trial without me (I think I was looking after her boys for her). In any case, I was at her house when she came home & she immediately told me that Gillian, whose dogs I loved, had a little boy, a sable, that she was looking to place. He was 12 weeks old and Kim Knox was going to e-mail her pictures of him since she also knew what type of dog I was looking for. I didn't let myself get too excited but the instant I saw his pictures I knew he would be my dog. I immediately named him George

...remember the Looney Tunes cartoon where
the Abominable Snowman is holding Bugs Bunny & he
says "Finally, a bunny of my very own!
To hug him & squeeze him and call him George!"
...well, that's what went through my head and he had to be named George. As fate would have it, Jennifer and I (and Mason) drove to Montreal to see Gillian and pick up my new puppy...on my Birthday! George came to live with me on May 19, 2005.

We started our Agility training when he was 11 months old and our first competition was August 28, 2006 at Hilltop at 18 months and 1 week. We did very well with several Qs and even a best run. We won Best Overall Starter Dog for the week-end and took home a lovely plaque and a fistful of ribbons. Since then we have competed several more times and are now in Master's Jumpers, still in Starters Snooker ('cause the Momma can't learn the rules!!) and Advanced in everything else.
I look forward to competing in my own backyard at Absolute Agility in 2007 and can't wait for the new season to start!
The first photo I saw of GeorgeThis is the first picture I ever saw of my puppy!

George's Mom Myda's new babies born 24 Feb 07. 2 years and 3 days after George & his brothers were born. There are 2 boys & 2 girls! Congrats to Gillian & Myda on the beautiful babies!

Gillian sent this picture and a few others to owners of her previous puppies (like me) to let us know how Myda was doing and I just couldn't help myself! I e-mailed her back and asked if there was any puppies still available...there was one! A little female puppy that I get to bring home on April 14th, 2007 and I've decided to name her Absolute Grace (Gracie). I'm so excited that I can barely stand it! Gracie is 6 weeks old already but very tiny so she'll come home on April 28, 2007!
